THE THREE GRACES ... why have i failed to make a scrapbook of the three ladies who inspired so much art ? ... better start right away with a painting by latecomer, LOVIS CORINTH ... and maybe then we can hark back to the origins ...

FIRST  ... painters need only the slightest of pretexts to rejoice in the female form and to IDEALIZE it ...

SECOND ... our THREE GRACES almost certainly originated in Ancient Greek mythology as THE THREE CHARITIES ...

Before we go further ... THEOI.COM is your go-to source for all things greek-classical ...

THIRD ... As is typical of all mythologies, none of which are evidence-based, the content and meaning of every story evolves and alters with every telling ... it isn't really possible to define any myth as "the original" ... so perhaps "the earliest know version" is a better label

The Cheshire Cat ... and Schrodinger's Old Tom Cat ... A question follows ...

I have been photographing Schrodinger's Old Tom Cat since 2008 but it never crossed my mind until this afternoon that I might juxtapose him with The Cheshire Cat ...

... and whilst I was prepping the Cheshire Cat on the screen, i noticed what seemd to be a scribbled word upon his forehead ...

i should be eternally grateful if anyone could tell me if it is a word, and how it got there ... ???

JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT HOPE TO KNOW ABOUT THE CHESHIRE CAT IS COLLECTED IN THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE ...
